Gypsy's Arrival & Chili's Departure

Chili arrived exhausted and hungry. So tired that he couldn’t even lift his head to eat. I thought to force feed him since he said he was starving and was going to go down the street to eat. He wasn't convincing with those those stern beaming eyes that gazed at me upon his arrival. He literally had trouble keeping his eyes open as he was speaking. So told him I would make him something to eat. No sooner when his head hit the pillow, he slept for hours only to awaken and say, ‘I’m going to run to the store to eat….zzzzzz” again...

I made chicken wings. The food that bring down mighty me, even creepy mighty men to their knees.

After about 4 hours of sleeping, the giant awoke. He walked to the hot kitchen and said, ‘smells good. Should I cook something?”

I replied, "no, I got this." Ice broken.

Gypsy’s arrival.

A pale girl from Indiana had arrived. He came with a strange story, to long to mention on facebook. She had been in brazil for seven years and came to Chicago for a conference and to get visa papers in order. That didn’t strike me at all as unusual. What did strike me was that she looked like the girl on Rosanna show (the youngest sarcastic one), and was JUST AS SARCASTIC as that girl on the show. Of coarse, we got along great, instantly. Even Malasia loved her! That swaggered speech, slow talking sarcasm and her travelling experience... well what can you say?

So Malasia made a dish from the ingredients in my house that made my eyes go to the back of my head. The heat in the house had to be at least 300 degrees, but nobody seemed to care. Not only that, Malasia felt the need to bring the house up another 100 degrees to make cookies (even tho she hate cookies). The guys from Switzerland and Turkey had partnered up from the day they met and left exploring the city together.

When I told Indiana Gypsy that I have a guy from Chili here, she was so excited because he could definitely help give her some info about south American laws. He had had headed out to downtown.

Door bell rang.

Being bad at names, I said, ‘hey Chili! How was the day?” However, before he could get in the door or say a word, I told him, "I have a gypsy from Indiana looking to go to the consulate too tomorrow!”

Just as fast as the question of ‘who’ came across his face, It quickly turned to ‘Really’?!

Then without waiting for a response. I yelled from the front door…’GYPSY…CHILI IS HERE!”

Gypsy had been in the kitchen upon Chili's arrival. That didn't stop her from starting the conversation with Chili from the back of the house. She yells out in, speaking in spanish to him. He’s yelling in Spanish back to her from the front of the house, and like cream of wheat, they bonded instantly and spoke for hours in spanish talking about their problems with the consulate. They both that to go to the Chillean consulate.

After a long night, the Swiss and Turkey arrived home, laughing and talking about their explorations.

The next morning, Chili and Gypsy travel to the consulate downtown together at 7 in the morning. I was laid out on the only couch available in the house for me to sleep, in the common room! I was so tired that I was never disturbed one bit or heard anything.

Swiss and turkey got ready to go out and Malasia was making breakfast for me. During this long hot day, me and Malasia was stayed inside the house. We both hated the heat. Everybody else was paired off and gone effortlessly.

Later, Chili came home. He was disappointed that he couldn’t get his visa. Upon discussing Chili's predicament, Malasia and I tried to provide him solutions of travelling back to Detroit to work out his solution. He needed to restamp his Visa since he had only two days left. Chicago consulate would not provide him the extension he needed and told him that he could go to Detroit to get it done. When Malasia heard this, she quickly told him that if that doesn't work, he could simply get it done at the border. Their was a 50/50 chance that it would work. Now the only problem was to get there.

Malasia said, ‘well, if you’re not afraid of 'dying', then do the ‘share and drive’ in craigslist? “

So I looked at him and her and said, ‘well if I was the person on craigslist….i wouldn’t be afraid of the driver. I would be afraid of Chili!!!”

I said., “Chili? No pund intended, but YOU ARE the creepy guy! “ I continued, ‘look at him! His eyes are intense. He’s got crazy eyes! If it wasn’t for the registration, I would have been scared of him!!” And everybody started laughing and Malasia agreed.

At this point Chili tried to make facial features to make himself less scary, but I had to tell him, ‘no….thats not gonna do it. That looks for more gay, not less creepy!” So we just kept laughin.

He had to go to Detroit tonight to go to the consulate there, because Chicago doesn’t do it here. So he left his big bag and camera case here at the house, while he travelled with his backpack to take care of his business. Then he had to come back here. So after taking the conversation out to the front porch, sitting under a still cool sun, he asked if the place would be booked for him to come back.

Unfortunately it was.

However, Malasia already agreed that he could stay in the bunk bed if gypsy decided to stay at a reservation she had made prior to arriving to my place. Gypsy at first, called to tell me she cancelled the other reservation, but then called back and said she kept it because its 2 minutes from her convention. The she asked if she could come back afterwards. So I told Chili that he could come back now that everyone has confirmed their whereabouts in the next days, and he was happy. The only uncertainty was not knowing how long he was going to be.

After leaving his big bag here at the house, he took his small back pack and left for Detroit.

Later, Swiss seemed to sound disappointed to leave his new found friend Turkey since he had to go to Champaign, IL. But Turkey was excited because he would be escorting three blonds thru the city upon his departure. I gave Swiss some cool spots to check online for his journey onward, to help ease his pain.

During the evening, we were all sitting around, just chilling, when we heard a hysterical laughter. Turkey had a ‘situation’ from eating black beans that were too spicy. It was so painful that his knees locked in place and someone in the bathroom. Not pretty.

When the situation calmed down, Turkey asked, "how does you bookings look for the next week? Any openings?"

I was thinking …..'BOOKED' ... He was to be here 10 days already.

It turned out that he talked to his four friends to come here if there was any availability because he don’t want to travel around the U.S.. He loved the Chicago beaches and millennium park and just want to chill. Although he booked for 10 days, he want to extend another 10 days.

I told him, "you gots to go by the 4th of August because I got people sleeping on the roof!"

I’m starting to see a pattern here. Nobody wants to leave.

At this point, I was hoping that the exchange students would change their minds about staying at my house and go to the dorm until September. I got 17 people in this house! After tomorrow, I have 5 more from two other countries.

Let's just see what happened. Good Lord…..
